Lippie Stix Review | Satin and Matte Finishes

Today, my very first ColourPop order came in the mail. I found out about the brand through watching several of my favorite beauty gurus rave about their products, some had even collaborated to make new shades. The products that ColourPop currently makes are their Super Shock Shadows, Lippie Stix, Lippie Pencils, Super Shock Cheek Blushes, Bronzers, and Highlighters. ALL products are cruelty-free and made in the United States. It usually takes 3-5 business days to ship orders in the USA, unless there are promotions or a new launch. Orders outside of the USA take 10-21 business days. ColourPop ships to the USA, Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, APO's, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In the USA, if orders are $30 and over, shipping is free. Everywhere else, the shipping costs will most likely vary on the weight of the order.
On this particular order, I only bought the Lippie Stix. The reason for this is because half of products were for my little sister's birthday and she'd only wear their lip products. (She only really wears lip products.) The other half of the order is what I purchased for myself, but I did receive the Birthday Girl SuperShock Shadow as they were giving them as a promotion with every order over the Memorial Day weekend. With the promotion, it took 9 business days to come, a total wait of 11 days for me. ColourPop sent an email to notify me that my order would take longer than 3-5 business days and then again to give the tracking number. Nothing was broken and my order wasn't messed up. Overall, the shipping was excellent.

As I opened the package, the shadow was surrounded by a strip of foam for extra protection. I also saw some cards. One was for information on the Super Shock Shadow while the other was descriptions of the various finishes of the Lippie Stix. There was also a cute handwritten note and the invoice.

The three Lippie Stix I bought for myself were:
  • Frida, Satin (CoffeeBreakWithDani collab)
    • Warm mid-tone pink with coral undertones
  • Lumière, Matte (KathleenLights collab)

    • Dusty pink mauve

  • Topanga, Satin
    • Mid-tone dusty coral

The three Lippie Stix I bought for my sister were:
  • Primer
  • BFF, Glossy
    • Warm peach
  • Button, Satin
    • Peachy nude
Pros: All the products are affordable drugstore prices. A good amount of product is given. The lip products are so creamy that they easily glide on the lips. The matte finishes are not too matte, it's a more natural finish. The shades are all gorgeous and look good whether or not you have fine lines in your lips. The packaging is sleek and the color indicators match the shades and help when organizing. Colors are opaque and stain, meaning that these colors WILL last. Lastly, the scent is a pleasant sugary vanilla scent that smells like vanilla wafers.

Cons: If you try to twist up the product all the way in order to see how much you have, once you twist down, the product is scraped on the sides. The pictures and descriptions on the website are not consistently accurate. Please be aware of this. I'm happy with all my colors and they are indeed accurate, but I peeped at the ones my sister asked for. Her colors are not 100% accurate based on the descriptions and swatches the site provided. The reviews on YouTube say that the glossy and hyper glossy finishes accentuate lines and dry lips.

Overview: However, the colors my sister got are still pleasant and I know she will still be happy with them. I'm not sure about the claim of the hyper glossy and glossy finishes, but I plan to get those finishes on my next purchase, as well as the cream finish and report back. The amounts of shades is not to be overlooked. ColourPop has the nudes, pinks, corals, and reds to black, greens, and blues. Also, notice how I didn't buy any lippie pencils? This is because the lippie pencil is plastic and needs to be sharpened. Honestly, that's a pain in the butt. The only sharpener that people recommended was the Urban Decay Grindhouse sharpener, that's $10 without tax. Whatever sharpener you buy, it must be extremely sharp. But, if you are not interested in buying a lippie pencil or the UD sharpener like me, the slant on the lippie stix is indeed precise enough to get a crisp application. The best thing to do for a good deal, if you live in the USA, is save up the $30 to get free shipping and sign up for the newsletter. When you sign up for the newsletter, you get a $5 off coupon code on your next purchase. That's a free eyeshadow or lip product!
